Vintage Vogue using Joseph's Coat Technique

School is out today and possibly tomorrow in Edmond, Oklahoma due to a crazy ice storm that started this morning. It was hard to believe since it was almost 60 degrees yesterday. So, if you are snowed or iced in today, why not try a new technique?

This is a card I made at my upline, Rhonda G. - The Stampin' Bunny's January Technique Class. The technique was invented by Janine Tinklenberg aka Jan Tink and is called, Joseph's Coat Inside Out. I still have no idea why it is called that. It's kind of like emboss resist I think. We used the Vintage Vogue stamp set and Very Vintage wheel from the Occasions Mini. The butterfly is on a part of the wheel. So, when you start to roll your wheel, make sure the butterfly will be where you want it. You might want to practice on scratch paper first if you are not used to using stamping wheels.

First roll the wheel in Rich Razzleberry across the bottom of the card. Then roll it randomly at the top in several directions without re-inking so that it will be fainter. Next, sponge on Pretty in Pink, Certainly Celery and Bashful Blue. Stamp the flowers and vine images in Versamark. Heat emboss with clear embossing powder. Last, randomly go over the edges with the brayer in Rich Razzleberry and Brocade Blue. Click on Jan Tink's name above for a complete tutorial. Her blog is hysterical!

How to Make a Tooth Fairy Pillow Using the Big Shot in 10 Steps

Recently there has been a surge of interest in quilting, making rag quilt purses and die cut flowers by cutting out fabric with the Big Shot. I had to give it a try. So, Riley lost a tooth and that gave me this idea.
Tuck the tooth inside the star. Close star with the pearl on the loop. Place inside envelope. The tooth fairy will take the wand and leave a coin behind in the envelope.
Stampin’ Up Supplies Needed:
Big Shot
Bigz Scallop Envelope Die
Bigz Clear Large Scallop Square
Magnetic Movers & Shapers Star (used with Curly Label die)
Pretties Kit Pearls
1/2 inch Polka-Dot Grosgrain Ribbon
Pretty in Pink Satin Ribbon
Other Supplies Needed:
Sewing Machine (optional)
Embroidery thread
Fleece fabric
Fabric glue (Unique Stitch)
Tombo mono liquid glue
Batting to stuff pillow
How to make it:
1. Cut out two large scallop squares with fabric. The Big Shot will cut through 8 pieces of fabric at once time. Fleece works well for beginners since the edges don’t fray.
2. Cut out one scallop envelope with fabric.
3. Cut out two stars with fabric.

4. Assemble the scallop envelope and glue with fabric glue. Let dry.
5. Fold piece of ribbon over and adhere to flap with fabric glue or glue dot. Add pearl to the front with Tombo mono liquid glue.
6. Sew the scallop envelope to one side of the scallop square along the fold of the envelope flap. It will not show when the envelope is closed.

7. Sew the back of the scallop square on three sides.
8. Stuff with batting and sew remaining edge.
9. Make star wand by gluing bottom four points of the star together. Leave the top of the star open.
10. Sew the pearl to top
of the point, making a loop
to hold the star closed when the tooth is inside. Place inside envelope and under pillow before bed.

Scrapbook Challenge Using My Digital Studio

This is what I came up with for the Weekend Scrapbook Challenge using the inspiration photo below. I really liked how the windows were symmetrical and used that as a layout for the photos and placed the round photo in the center like the middle of the wreath. This was created using My Digital Studio and the Designer Series Paper Downloads. For more information about MDS please see this video on my website at

Help Make A Difference

One week ago the magnitude 7.0 earthquake struck Haiti, leaving in its wake devastation so overwhelming that the Haitian people and their leaders can only look for help from the outside to cope. In the past, when terrorists attacked the Twin Towers, when a tsunami struck Indonesia, when a hurricane destroyed New Orleans, and when wildfires ravaged Australia, Stampin′ Up! demonstrators stepped forward and showed their commitment to making a difference in the lives of others. This time is no different. From now until February 28, 2010, $2 from every I {Heart} Hearts stamp set will be donated American Red Cross’ Haiti Relief and Development Fund. The Red Cross is already well-established in Haiti, and this money will be used to provide immediate relief and long-term support through supplies, technical assistance and other support to help those in need. Copy and paste this link to order from my secure Stampin' Up! website:

I {Heart} Hearts – clear-mount (block D recommended) 118571 $18.95

Happiness Always

Here is a birthday card I made for a friend who's favorite color is purple! I used the Shades of Spring DSP (Occasions Mini, p. 25) and the Embosslits Die, Beautiful Wings (Occasions Mini, p. 24). The paper coordinates with Orchid Oppulence. I added a touch of Lovely Lilac which is also in the Bold Brights color family. The sentiment is from Whimsical Words in the SAB catalog.

Masculine Valentine Slider Card

Here is a Valentine's Card I created for hubby. Maybe it will get him to stamp with me. It's a slider card, which means that the tag slides out, revealing an opening by which to get the candy out, without destroying the card. I used the Big Shot scallop square die and the Heart Sweet Treat Cups. The cute little lingerie pic on the tag is made with the heart punch and Noveau Chic and Kaleidescope DSP.

Thinking of You

This card uses the Big Shot Sizzix Bigz die, Beautiful Butterflies (cut out from the Shades of Spring DSP). I back-stitched the flurry for a whimsical look using Stampin' Up's Thin Linen Thread. The cardstock colors are Regal Rose and Certainly Celery. I liked how the Regal Rose coordinated with the 5/8 inch Pretty in Pink Satin Ribbon (Occasions Mini). I used the crop a dile to adhere a jumbo eyelet and ran the ribbon around the cardstock and through the eyelet. The Certain Celery is attached with Stampin' Dimentionals so that the ribbon can come through the back. The sentiment says, "You're never more than a thought away" and comes from Whimsical Words in the Sale-a-Bration catalog for a limited time.

Follow Your Heart

This card is the 3rd project we'll be creating at Technique Class/Stamp Club on Saturday. I CAS'd this from Cindy Coutts and changed the sentiment using Whimsical Words from the Sale-A-Bration catalog (free with $50 purchase during this promotion).I used Very Vanilla and Certainly Celery Cardstock. The butterfly was created using the Big Shot and the Sizzix Bigz Beautiful Butterflies die (cut out with Shades of Spring Designer Series Paper). The midsection of the butterfly uses the hat pin and beads from the Pretties Kit. I used wire cutters to snip off the end of the pin to shorten in and gently hammered on the enclosure. I stamped, "Follow your heart ~ it knows the way" in Certainly Celery.

Heart Treat Cups & Sweetheart Stamp

These heart treat cups are so much fun! They perfectly coordinate with the Sweetheart Stamp set and the Full heart punch. I filled this treat cup with the Corduroy buttons found on page 13 of the Occasions Mini. Remember, for every $50 you spend during Sale-A-Bration receive a free stamp set listed in the SAB catty!

Life Happens, Kissing Helps

Here is a card I CASED exactly from Ronda Camire at using the Vintage Vogue set on page 26 of the Occasions Mini and the Stampin' Up! Embosslits Die called Beautiful Wings on page 24 of the Occasions Mini. The ribbon can be found on page 27 and is the 5/8 inch Pretty in Pink satin ribbon. I thought it was very clever of her to score the area between the vines. Very simple, yet elegant. I made the butterfly on the envelope with the Butterfly Accents stamp (p. 43 Occasions)by using the Kissing Technique on the Medallion Stamp. To do this technique you simply ink up the Medallion stamp (I used Melon Mambo) then press the Butterfly Accent Stamp onto the inked Medallion (or any background stamp). We will be making this card at class/stamp club on Jan. 16th. Contact me to register by Jan. 10th.

Tote-ally Tess Scrapbook Pages

I just love Tote-ally Tess. Here is a 6 x 6 double layout that I made for a Demonstrator swap. I was inspired by the photo on page 41 of the Occasions Mini Catalog. On the right hand page, the top note die slides out for journaling or another photo can be placed there. (Another great idea featured in Stampin' Success.) This stamp set is only available for a limited time in the Occasions Mini through April 30th. The paper with the cute litte houses on it is from the Designer Series Paper Pad called Welcome Neighbor on page 7 of the Sale-A-Bration Catalog. You can get a whole thick pad of 72 double sided sheets (3 each of 24 double-sided designs) for FREE with a $50 purchase during Sale-A-Bration. Please click on the photos for a larger view.
