Stamping with Watercolor Wonder Crayons

This is a really fun technique to try - stamping with Watercolor Wonder Crayons (page 154 Idea Book & Catalog) onto textured cardstock. I knew that I wanted to use my Inspired by Nature stamp set, but I was stuck. So I logged onto Stampin Addicts and searched the gallery alphabetically by the name of my stamp set (Inspired by Nature). I came across this beautiful card by Mary Rindal which was my inspiration for the above cards. To do this technique I just lightly misted the stamp with water, colored it in using purple, yellow, and orange from my bold brights set. Then I lightly misted the stamp again and pressed. You can also add accents afterward using an aqua painter or white gel pen.

Happy Valentine's Day!!

Happy Valentine's Day! This weekend I had a birthday card stamp a stack. It was so much fun! We made 16 cards, four different designs. My favorite was the Lots of Bots Z-fold birthday card for a boy or girl. I featured this card last Tuesday, but I changed it a little for the Stamp a Stack in order to use up the Crushed Curry ribbon on a different card.

This is a Z-fold card. You can see directions and my other version of this card with the ribbon here.

Lots of Bots Z-Fold

I love these little robots! This is a Z-fold card using the Lots of Bots stamp set, a sheet of Sweet Pea Designer Series Paper from the Occasions Mini and cardstock in Bermuda Bay, Bashful Blue, Crushed Curry and Whisper White. To make this Z-fold card I cut an 11 x 4 1/4-inch piece of Bermuda Bay CS. Score vertically at 2 3/4 and 5 1/2 inches from the left. Adhere a 2 3/4 x 4 1/4 inch piece of Sweet Pea DSP to the left. I added Jumbo Brads and piece of Crushed Curry Ribbon to the front. I used a corner rounder punch on the edges.

My 6 year old and I are sending cards to a fellow Stampin' Up! Demonstrator's 8-year-old grandson who is in the hospital and needing some cheering up. If you are interested in hearing his story and sending a card click here http://www.thestampcampcounselor.com/2010/02/cards-and-prayers-for-freddy.html

It Just Needed a Little Something

This is a card we made for the 3-2-1 Red Hot Valentine class. My first idea had it too plain without the ribbon and jumbo brad. It just needed something else. So, I added the melon mambo ribbon and jumbo brad. Then I saw a cute card on Stampin' Addicts by Mellisa Huie where she stamped over the dandelion again with frost shimmer paint, offset a little, to give it a shadow effect. I will post of pic of this technique next so you can see the difference. It was adorable. This stamp set is called A Happy Heart and I used Kraft, Pretty in Pink and a piece of the heart paper from the Welcome Neighbor 6 by 6 Designer Series Paper Pack.

Fake Joseph's Coat

I saw a beautiful Fall leaves card on Karen Barber's blog and I stopped in my tracks. How did she do that? I just had to try it. This technique is called Faux Joseph's Coat. First I stamped the bird in Versamark on Kaleidescope Designer Series Paper and embossed with clear powder. Then I went over the top with my brayer in Pink Passion until the design barely shows, but is highlighted by the emboss resist. I matched another piece of the Kaleidescope design behind the main image.

Weekend Blog Challenge Creation

Here is my creation based on Lupen Grainne's photo for the weekend inspiration challenge below. I got the layout idea from Trina Caraway during the Stampin Addicts blog hop using A Flower For All Seasons. For my card, I used the Vintage Vogue stamp set from page 26 of the Occasions Mini, Old Olive CS and a sheet from the Sweet Pea Designer Series paper pack on page 33 of the Occasions Mini Catalog. The ribbon is the 5/8 inch satin in Old Olive (p. 26 Occasions Mini). I used the Big Shot Distressed impressions die and embossed it twice (vertically then again horizontally). I just love this layout and you can use almost set and color combination.
