Back to School Survival Crate

It's back to school time in Oklahoma! Today I am playing along with the Back to School Rubbernecker Challenge #16.

I combined the Wood Words and Coffee Cafe stamp sets to create this little teacher gift called the Back to School Survival Crate. I assembled the crate using the Wood Crate Framelits die and the Wood Textures Designer Series Paper. Next I stamped the "for you" sentiment onto the DSP and cut out the tag shape with the framelit in the Wood Crate Framelits set. I looped a piece of Crumb Cake Classic Weave Ribbon behind the tag and tied a bow with Linen Thread. Now on to the goodies:

Contents: Faux Wood Crate, Thanks a Latte card, A Note for You Post it Note holder, chocolate, Life Happens Coffee Helps mini notebook, one pack of Emergen-C, and two instant Starbuck's coffee's in a little tag holder.

The crate contains a little card cut out of the coffee cups framelits die. I stamped the Thanks a Latte sentiment from the coordinating Coffee Cafe stamp set in Garden Green. I have a tutorial HERE that shows how to make a card from this framelit die. I thought the sentiment was really cute for the teachers.

I created a little Post it Note holder. My Post Its measured 3" x 3" so I cut a piece of Whisper White DSP 3-1/4" x 6-3/4" and scored at 3-2/8" and 3-4/8".  The front is decorated with the Coffee Break DSP. I added another stamp set to the mix. The banner is from the Number of Years set and I cut it out with the coordinating shape in the Large Number Framelits Die. The sentiment is from the Wood Words stamp set. The little circle embellishment was stamped on to Whisper White cardstock in Early Espresso from the circle shape in the Wood Words set and I cut it out with the Layering Circle Framelit die.
I've seen these little notebooks created with other dies, so I thought why not go along with the theme and add a little coffee notebook. The sentiment is stamped in green ombre by using various shades of green Stampin' Write markers directly onto the stamp.  I punched the hole with my Crop-A-Dile and added a little metal ring and ribbon to hold it together. I cut out loose leaf notebook paper with the coffee framelit die.
Obviously, we need coffee to get through the first day of school. With these little instant packets you don't even need water. You can just snip off the top of the package and chug it. Lol! The word coffee is taken off of another sentiment from the Coffee Cafe set. I inked that word only in Early Espresso and stamped onto the Wood Textures DSP. With the Scalloped Tag Topper punch, you can cut a 2 inch strip of paper as long as you want it. Punch the top and fold it over to create a pocket. I punched the holes with my Crop-A-Dile and back stitched Linen Thread through the holes to hold it together.

I pray that our teachers and kiddos have a wonderful school year and that they stay safe and have open minds and their hearts are filled with of love. I pray that they embrace each other's differences and stand up for what is just and good in the world. I pray that lasting friendships are formed and that an end is put to discrimination and nonsense. I pray for an all inclusive environment where children of all abilities feel valued and loved!

Mini Treat Bag with Matching Card and Envelope Using the Envelope Punch Board

Easily make a matching card and envelope to fit inside your mini treat bag! Create your mini treat bag using the Mini Treat Bag Thinlits Die. A 3" x 4" card will fit inside along with the envelope. The envelope punch board is one of those items that I always leave out on my craft table. It is so easy to use and it's a great way to help use up scraps to make the cute envelope liners. The directions are right on the board. Once you have the envelope mastered, there is great YouTube video from Frenchie Stamps who shows a genius shortcut on making the liners using less paper.

I created the little "Life Happens Coffee Helps" tag using the Coffee Cups Framelits die. Just cut your paper 2" x 5" and fold in half like a card. Place the die over the folded edge just a bit and when you run it through the Big Shot the folded part will stay folded and not cut. Sandwich the framelit the normal way, with the Magnetic Platform, clear plate, die then clear plate on top. Then just cut out two lids and glue them to the front and back of the little tag.
This is still my favorite bundle and the Coffee Break Designer Series Paper is amazing!

You can order any of these items from me at The Coffee Cups Framelits even have a die that cuts out the DSP, like the little coffee cup I placed on the envelope.

Thanks for stopping by!  Please leave a comment or ask any questions. I'm happy to share!

Carols of Christmas Early Release

The Stampin' Up! Holiday Catalog doesn't come out until next month, but you can order the Carols of Christmas Bundle now with this early release! I pre-ordered mine and created this fun watercolor card with some inspiration from Ilina Crouse. To create this look I put three drops of reinkers onto my silicone craft sheet in Elegant Eggplant, Tempting Turquoise and Night of Navy. Then I used an aqua painter to pull a tiny bit of color from each drop and and swirl around onto watercolor paper, letting the edges of different colors touch and mix. I dried it with my heat tool, then stamped the Peace on Earth sentiment from the Carols of Christmas stamp in Versamark and embossed with white embossing powder.

We Create Blog Hop - August Step it Up

Welcome to our August Blog Hop! We are a group of Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators who create a simple project and then a “stepped up” version on the first of every month.  We use current Stampin' Up! products in our designs. I'm so happy you stopped by.

Featuring . . . Dragonfly Dreams! This simple version is created with a Melon Mambo card base. I stamped the dragonfly and sentiment on to watercolor paper with black Archival Ink and embossed with black embossing powder. To get the watery look I first painted around the dragonfly by dipping a paintbrush generously in water and painting the water where I wanted my color to go. While wet, I placed a drop of Melon Mambo and a drop of Calypso Coral on my Silicone Craft Sheet. Next I used an Aqua Painter to pick up a small drop of color and gently dropped the color on the water that I previously painted. I alternated between Melon Mambo and Calypso Coral and tilted the watercolor paper to get it to move where I wanted it. Make sure you keep the paper wet with your paintbrush and water.
To step it up, I used the same Melon Mambo base with a Basic Black mat. Instead of watercolor paper, I used Glossy White Cardstock. I sponged Melon Mambo and Calypso Coral all over the paper and spritzed it generously with water using the Stampin' Spritzer and dried it with the heat tool. Then I wet my hand and flung water drops with my fingers on the paper and let it dry again. I stamped the alphabet clusters from the Touches of Texture stamp set in Calypso Coral. I did the same technique with a scrap of Glossy White cardstock for my sentiment. Once dry I stamped the dragonfly with Basic Black Archival ink and embossed with Black embossing powder. I embossed the sentiment too.

I die cut the embossed dragonfly from this completed piece with the coordinating Detailed Dragonfly Thinlits Die and sat it aside. Then I tilted the paper and adhered it onto the black base. Next, take your cut out dragonfly and glue the center only over the black cut out part but not directly over it. I moved it up a little to create a shadow effect. Do not glue the wings so that you can fluff them up for dimension. It's embellished with Iridescent Sequins and Gold Metallic Thread. I added clear Wink of Stella to the wings for shimmer.
As always, thank you for stopping by! We love comments too! To see what the other bloggers' stepped up cards look like, hop on over to Stampnjul by clicking Next Blog below:
