The Fine Feathers stamp set has to be my favorite right now. I made this card for a Fall Swap using the Sweater Weather Designer Series Paper in the background with a color combo of Crushed Curry, Early Espresso, Baked Brown Sugar and Soft Sky. The Happy Thanksgiving sentiment is from the Tags 4 You set in the Holiday Catalog. Happy Fall!

I'm the sketch designer this month for the Creating Pretty Cards Sketch Challenge #24 over at Craft Project Central. You can download a free tutorial for the inspiration card which includes a list of all of the supplies that I used to make this card. For every ten cards submitted, CPC will pick one winner of a free month subscription to Craft Project Central. The winner(s) will get to select the month of their choice. If the project designers submit a card for your inspiration this month, they won’t be in the winner random-selection pool, but their cards will count toward the "for every 10 cards submitted winner total". Check out all the great projects this month at Craft Project Central.
The digital sample card was created with My Digital Studio. Check it out here and try it free for 30 days: http://www.stampinup.net/esuite/home/krisk/productline12

I had the opportunity to take an online class from http://www.dailycrafttv.com/ in exchange for a review on my blog. DailyCraftTV offers online crafting instruction in quilting, sewing, knitting, crocheting, scrapbooking and papercrafting. I chose the class, 50 Moments: Scrapbook the Pages That Matter Most by Lisa Bearnson. The video was about an hour and 15 minutes long and was a companion video to her book published in 2008. This video was part of The Essential Scrapbook Video Collection from Creating Keepsakes. I've had Lisa Bearnson's book for quite sometime and hadn't looked at it in a while. The DailyCraftTV video gave me a creative lift and motivated me to think about those moments that indeed do matter most in our lives. I found the class interesting and refreshing. It's a great way to jump start your creativity and an excellent platform for beginners who don't know where to start.
The video outlines a few of the chapters or "moments" mentioned in the book and is narrated by Lisa Bearnson herself. One of my favorite parts of the video was Lisa's last tip regarding "home". She prompts you, "To recall the places you've called home, to remember warm memories of what home means to you." I took the following prompts to create the layout below in my Epic Day This and That journal from Stampin' Up! I used the following journal prompts: What do you love best about your home? How have you made it a cozy place to live? Write about some of the different places you've lived over the years. Which place felt most like home to you?

My friend Julie is the guest designer this month at Craft Project Central and she created this month's sketch challenge. My card features a sneak peek of the Quatrefancy Specialty paper featured in the new catalog. It has a coordinating punch called Mosaic and a coordinating embossing folder called Modern Mosaic. I used a returning stamp set, Sassy Salutations and stamped on a Window Sheet with black Stazon. I used four tiny drops of Crystal Effects in each corner of the Window Sheet to glue it down.
You should play along and you could win a free month's subscription to Craft Project Central.

Here's a fun technique I learned in an online class called, Get Artsy, over at Big Picture Classes. The class encourages you to use supplies you have on hand, rather than purchasing all new ones. For this technique I used a 12 x 12 piece of Very Vanilla Card Stock. I sewed a 9" x 12" piece of Mixed Media paper on to the card stock. I painted over the entire page with White Gesso. Then I colored and scribbled random patches of colors with Watercolor Wonder Crayons (which are retiring and only available while supplies last from Stampin' Up!) I had these on hand so I used them in place of Gelatos. I used a spray bottle to mist the areas of color and blended them with my fingers. When I had the colors where I wanted them I placed a stencil over the page and "erased" the color with a baby wipe in the area of the stenciled image. The Gesso allows the color to be easily removed and it seals the page so that it doesn't tear when wiping. You can purchase Watercolor Wonder Crayons while supplies last at www.krisk.stampinup.net.

Welcome to the May Day Blog Hop. Have fun hopping all the way through with our little group of cyber friends. "We Create" on the first of every month using Stampin' Up! Products and accessories.
When I was a little girl we celebrated May Day (May 1st) by hanging a small basket or cone of freshly picked flowers on a friend's doorknob. This fond memory inspired these May Day projects in Daffodil Delight and Basic Gray.
Stamps: Hey There (only available through Paper Pumpkin Welcome Kit), Simply Serif Mini Alphabet, Itty Bitties
Paper: Whisper White, Daffodil Delight, Basic Gray, Polka Dot Parade Designer Series Paper
Ink: Daffodil Delight, Basic Gray Classic Stampin' Pad
Punches: 1-1/4" Scallop, 7/8" Scallop, Elegant Butterfly, Bitty Butterfly, Petite Pennants Builder, 1/2" Circle, Itty Bitty Shapes, Blossom Punch
Accessories: Square Envelopes, Creped Filter Paper, Basic Pearls, Natural 7/8" Cotton Ribbon, Whisper White Baker's Twine, Sponge Dauber, Paper-Piercing Tool, Stampin' Pierce Mat, Glue Dots, Two Way Glue Pen, Stampin' Dimensionals, Big Shot and Petal Cone Bigz L Die, Essentials Designer Fabric (Daffodil Delight Chevron Pattern)
