Test Tube Madness! Halloween Treats

We can purchase these adorable food safe test tubes for a limited time from the Stampin' Up! Holiday Catalog. Only $5 USD for 12 test tubes! I filled these with rainbow Nerds. One big box of Nerds filled all 12 test tubes. The test tube holder idea came from Lisa Sommerville some time ago and I followed along with a Youtube video from Dawn Griffith for the measurements. I debated whether or not to decorate the sides of the holder, but wow! What a difference it made with this cute Designer Series Paper. Of course, I had to use the stamp from the Spooky Cat set which has the little bubbling beakers to go along with the test tube theme. Everyone in my Crafty Bunco group received one from me!

  • Stamp Set: Spooky Cat
  • Designer Series Paper: Spooky Night
  • Colors & Ink: Lemon Lime Twist, Basic Black, Pumpkin Pie, Elegant Eggplant
  • Embellishments: Test Tubes, 1/2" Finely Woven Ribbon in Lemon Lime Twist

Graveyard Goodies

Here are some spooky tags and a cute little card I CASE'd from the Holiday Catalog. I had some pieces leftover from my September 1st blog hop creations and just used what was lying on my desk to make some Halloween tags.
For the black tag, I added a piece of the Detailed Gate from the Detailed Gate thinlits die over a piece of Basic Black cardstock. I applied a thin coat of Crystal Effects with a paint brush and let it dry. I really love the shiny effect. You can also use Gel Medium.
  • Stamp Sets: Graveyard Gate
  • Colors & Ink: Wisteria Wonder, Lemon Lime Twist, Basic Black, Shimmery White, Pumpkin Pie, Smoky Slate
  • Embellishments: Black Vintage Crochet Trim, Crystal Effects
  • Tools: Multipurpose Liquid Glue, Fine Tip Glue Pen, Stampin' Trimmer, Paper Snips, Heat Tool, Stamping Sponges, 1" Circle Punch, Stampin' Dimensionals, Scalloped Tag Topper Punch, paint brush
  • Big Shot: Detailed Gate Thinlits Die

Graveyard Gate & Spooky Cat: Two Sets One Layer

The Stampin' Up! Holiday Catalog has arrived! I created these spooky one layer 3x3 cards while playing around at a scrapbooking retreat last weekend. I've had so much fun with this stamp set which I was able to pre-order as a Demonstrator. The rat is from the Spooky Cat set, but the rest is from the Graveyard Gate set.
I inked the brick pillar stamp using Stampin' Write markers in Tip Top Taupe and Smoky Slate. The gate is stamped with Momento. I love the smooth dark color from this ink. The rat is Smoky Slate. The edges are inked in Basic Black. I added the new black rhinestone jewel to the gate. I used my Stamp-a-majig to precisely line up the images.
The inside owl and sentiment are from the Spooky Cat set. If you would like to order any of the items you see here please click HERE to shop and please choose me as your demonstrator.

Supply List:

  • Stamp Sets: Graveyard Gate and Spooky Cat
  • Colors & Ink:  Whisper White, Momento, Basic Black, Smoky Slate, Tip Top Taupe
  • Tools and Embellishments: Stamp-a-majig Multipurpose Liquid Glue, Stampin' Trimmer, Sponge Dauber,  Basic Black Rhinestone Jewels

We Create Blog Hop - September Step it Up and Holiday Catalog Launch!

Welcome to our September Blog Hop! We are a group of Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators who create a simple project and then a “stepped up” version on the first of every month. Today is the Holiday Catalog Launch! I'll be showing you two fun Halloween cards created with the new Graveyard Gate bundle.

For the simple version I used the color combo of Wisteria Wonder, Pumpkin Pie and Lemon Lime Twist onto Whisper White cardstock. I stamped the headstones and bats with clear Versamark and heat embossed with black embossing powder. Then I made a mask for the moon by punching out a 1-inch circle and taping it down with repositionable adhesive. I sponged Wisteria Wonder, Pumpkin Pie, Lemon Lime Twist and Wisteria Wonder again on the bottom. I removed the mask from the moon and added shimmer with clear Wink of Stella. I embellished with Lemon Lime Twist Finely Woven Ribbon and black Vintage Crochet Trim. Black Rhinestone Jewels were added to the headstones. On the inside I created a creepy torn sentiment from the same Graveyard Gate stamp set.
I stepped it up by adding the gate from the Detailed Gate Thinlits Die and using the "kissing technique" on the headstones. The Graveyard Gate Bundle includes the Graveyard Gate stamp set with the die and saves you 10%. This card just had to be an easel card.

The lock and key are a thinlit die included with the gate. I cut them out with a scrap of Shimmery White cardstock. Next I laid them on my Versamark pad to get them coated then heat embossed with silver embossing powder.
Kissing Technique:  One of the stamps in the Graveyard Gate set is a rocky pillar. I inked the pillar with Smoky Slate and pressed the headstone onto the inked pillar to get the rocky image before stamping on my paper. So, it's like they kissed. I've seen really old headstones like this at the Triplett Cemetary at Lake Eufaula. I used this same stamp to create the background for the "Open if you Dare" sentiment. You will want to pop up the sentiment with Stampin' Dimensionals so that your card base will have something to rest on to make it stand up. Stamp your headstones and cover them with a mask before sponging your background colors. It gives them the creepy white outline around them. I stamped the candy image in the bottom right corner. I imagined that someone was so scared outside of that gate that they dropped their candy.
Here's a side view of the simple easel card. The card lays flat to fit in a Medium Envelope 5-3/4" x 4-3/8".  Let me know if you have any questions or you need any measurements by commenting below.
