A Little Halloween Magic with Pan Pastels

Happy Halloween! Sometimes a dark background is all you need to make a simple stamped image really stand out! Start with black cardstock and added a soft white swirl in the background using Titanium White Pan Pastel.

Using a blending brush, I gently applied the Pan Pastel in a swirling motion. I love how the white pastel creates a smoky, almost magical effect against the black cardstock without completely covering the background. I made some shadows across the moon using black Pan Pastel.

Of course, I couldn't leave it there! 😊

To give the background a little more movement and texture, I added white splatters with a Posca Pen. I also dotted on a little glitter glue for just the right amount of sparkle.

The combination of the soft Pan Pastel, scattered white splatters, and tiny touches of glitter gives the card so much dimension without requiring a lot of extra embellishments.

Next, I stamped the Nerissa witch image from Lavinia Stamps using Black VersaFine ink. The crisp black detail works beautifully against the softer pastel background. The sentiment is from Lavinia Stamps - Wild at Heart.
