We Create Blog Hop - July Step it Up
Welcome to our July Blog Hop! We are a group of Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators who create a simple project and then a “stepped up” version on the first of every month. We use current Stampin' Up! products in our designs. I'm so happy you stopped by.
Featuring . . . Wood Words and Jar of Love. To create this simple card, I used Soft Sky for the base and made a top fold card. The first layer is a piece of the Wood Textures Designer Series Paper Stack. The next layer is a piece of Watercolor Paper which I sponged with Soft Sky, spritzed with water and dried with my Heat Tool. The crate was cut out with the Wood Crate Framelits Die and I just cut off the front. You can save 10% when you purchase the Wood Words Bundle (145315) which includes the stamp and die. All of the flowers are created from the Jar of Love stamp and coordinating Everyday Jars Framelits. I used Flirty Flamingo, Pear Pizzaz, Wild Wasabi and Soft Sky for the flowers.
Here is the stepped up version. Whaaat? It looks the same? Well, it's a top fold card turned on it's side. But, that's not all! Check out the pop up goodness on the inside! It even folds flat to put in an envelope to mail. I had Stamper's Block all week. I recently read Big Magic: Creative Living Beyond Fear by Elizabeth Gilbert. She said, so what if someone has already done it - you haven't. So I went to Pinterest for some inspiration. I'd like to give a shout out to a few of my Pinterest favorites who inspired these cards: Lori Pinto, Paula Dobson and Rachel Wollard.
How's that for stepped up! This was not hard. Just assemble your crate and cut off the bottom. Decorate you crate with the flowers before you glue it into the card. When you are all done with your floral goodness, put the crate flush against the inside of the card at a 90 degree angle. Glue the left side of the crate to the left side of the card and glue the back to the right side of the card. When you close the card it will fold flat. Create the longer side fold style card so that the crate won't stick out when you fold it. I stamped the sentiment from the Dragonfly Dreams stamp set.
This is a photo of the card turned upside down so you can see inside the crate. I cut two strips of scrap paper 4 1/2" long and folded 1/2" in on each end as shown. Those two strips are attached inside the crate to glue your flowers and stems onto. Fold the pieces as shown so that they will fold flat with the movement of the crate when the card is closed.
