My Inky Friends - Inking Up the Retiring In Colors Blog Hop

The 2016-2018 In Colors are retiring, so we are giving them one last Hurrah! Which was your favorite? Dapper Denim, Emerald Envy, Flirty Flamingo, Peekaboo Peach, or Sweet Sugarplum? Follow our hop as we ink up the retiring in colors. Should you get lost during the blog hop, you may find a list of participants on the Inky Friends blog page. You may have arrived from Cindy's blog, Heart's Delight Cards where she featured Dapper Denim. I'm excited to show you what I created using Emerald Envy and the Magical Mermaid stamp set. Which, by the way, is not retiring!
I created three cards using an idea I got from Stampin' Up's Facebook page called the One-to-Three Paper Challenge. The idea is to use one main stamp set and the same basic layout to make three different cards. If you try it, be sure to post a photo of your creations on social media using the hashtag: #SU1to3paperchallenge. Emerald Envy, Sahara Sand and Whisper White is the color combo I used today.
Isn't she pretty! I stamped the mermaid onto Shimmery White cardstock with clear Versamark and embossed with gold embossing powder. Her body and hair are colored with Stampin' Blends (which are currently unavailable until the end of May due to backorder and production issues). I used an Emerald Envy re-inker with an Aqua Painter to paint her tail. Once dry, I fussy cut with Paper Snips.  I used Stampin' Dimensionals to adhere her to the base. The seaweed is stamped with clear Versamark and embossed with gold as well as the sentiment. I used an aquapainter and re-inkers in Emerald Envy and Pink Pirouette to do a wash around the oval. The sentiment is also stamped onto Shimmery White cardstock. I find this cardstock works best if you using an aqua painter.
I used the Layering Circles Framelits Dies to create the opening for the sentiment on this card. The layering scallop frame is Bermuda Bay which I just love paired with Emerald Envy. I changed her hair color to blonde and painted clear Wink of Stella all over her tail to give her shimmer. I used an Emerald Envy Stampin' Write Marker along with the Aqua Painter to add definition to the bottom of her tail. The words "kisses and wishes" on the sentiment were gold embossed then fussy cut and glued over the stamped Emerald Envy sentiment to make it fancy.
The Emerald Envy base on the third card is embossed with the Softly Falling Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. It looks like bubbles! The little sea creatures on the Sahara Sand band are gold heat embossed and the strip is just hand torn on each edge.

Thank you for stopping by! Please say hello and leave a comment! Now it's time to move ahead and see what Betty at Kitty Stamp inked up for us using Flirty Flamingo!
