Iced Crystal Technique and House of Haunts Sketch Challenge - TSSC193

I was trying to create a layout for this card which uses a couple of fun techniques and I got stuck. Then I came across Techno Stamper's Monday Lunchtime Sketch Challenge and that did the trick. The first technique I used on this card is called, Iced Crystal using Epsom Salt. This is also Technique Challenge 99 on Stampin Addicts. You can click on the photo for a larger view. Mix 1/4 cup of Epsom Salt with 1/4 cup of boiling water and stir until the salt crystals are dissolved. Use a large paint brush to paint the entire surface of the cardstock and cover it well.  I found it looks "icy-er" if you press down with the paint brush like you are dotting it on. Then just leave it alone to dry. Do not go back and try to add more after it begins to dry-it will ruin it.

I also used the Stained Glass technique. I stamped the haunted house on to a piece of vellum in Basic Black Craft ink and embossed with black embossing powder. I turned it over and did all of the coloring and sponging on the back. Happy Haunting!

  1. How fun, I love that icy look. The two techniques together make quite a "spooky" card. Thanks so much for playing along with my sketch challenge this week!

  2. Love your card. The colors are great for a Haunted Card.
