Retired Set Sunday Pop Up Card: Blooming Flower Garden

Welcome back to Retired Set Sunday - where I combine something retired with something current from Stampin' Up! I hope this inspires you to dust off your old Stampin' Up! supplies and get creative. This week I created this beautiful pop-up z-fold card using the flowers from the Jar of Love Bundle. The tutorial can be purchased from the talented Stampin' Up! Demonstrator, Bronwyn Eastley. Purchasing the tutorial helps her with her crafting business and it's inexpensive and easy to follow. So worth it! Here's the link: http://addinktivedesigns.com/2016/08/15/the-stamp-review-crew-jar-of-love/ My card varies from hers because I created the fence with the retired Woodgrain background stamp and Modern Label Punch. Her tutorial will show you how to create it with current supplies. My colors and flower arrangements are different too. The possibilities are endless. See how versatile this stamp set is!
What I love about this card is that it folds flat and will fit in a standard size envelop! Amazing! I used the sentiment from Cottage Greetings on the second panel that says, Wishing You Ridiculous Amounts of Happiness.  When you peer down into the card, the flowers are glued to hills decorated with the Sheltering Tree Stamp. The background panels were created on watercolor paper washed with Island Indigo and an Aqua Painter. I used lots of water to get a feeling of the sky.

Supply List:

  • Stamp Sets: Jar of Love, Sheltering Tree, Cottage Greetings, Woodgrain (retired)
  • Colors & Ink: Island Indigo, Crumb Cake, Whisper White, Daffodil Delight, Real Red and Night of Navy, Garden Green, Basic Black (to draw the seeds inside the yellow flowers)
  • Embellishments: Watercolor Paper
  • Tools: Multipurpose Liquid Glue, Fine Tip Glue Pen, Stampin' Trimmer, Stampin' Dimensionals, Paper Snips
  • Big Shot: Everyday Jars Framelits Dies
The Jar of Love bundle may be purchased with a 10% discount before the end of the month. The stamp and dies are carrying over to the new catalog in June, but they will no longer be available as a discounted bundle. If you'd like to order online just click HERE and please choose me as your demonstrator.

Updated Color Chart in SU Catalog Font

Updated Color Chart with New In Colors
Click Photo to Download Chart
Hello Friends! I've updated the blank color chart featuring the new Stampin' Up! In Colors for 2017-2019; Berry Burst, Fresh Fig, Lemon Lime Twist; Powder Pink and Tranquil Tide. It even matches the font from the new Stampin' Up! catalog. Feel free to download and share. The idea is to help you organize your papers and ink. You can also use it to coordinate colors. There are spots for you to punch out a color sample, scribble with the coordinating marker and stamp any image of your choice. For best results, print the pages on Whisper White card stock. You will be able to order all of the new In Color papers and ink starting June 1st! Happy Crafting!

We Create Blog Hop - May Step it Up

Welcome to our May Blog Hop! We are a group of Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators who love to create a simple project and then a “stepped up” version.  It’s so fun to connect with each other and share creative ideas.  I'm so happy you stopped by.
Simple Version
Featuring . . . the Cool Treats bundle along with the Tasty Treats Designer Paper from the Stampin' Up! Occasions Catalog. My simple card was created with a Pool Party cardstock base. The Tasty Treats DSP includes 12 different sheets of five 12" x 12" double sided designs. The circles were cut out with the Layering Circles Framelits in Pool Party and Peekaboo Peach cardstock. Now for the fun part! All of the ice cream parts were cut out with the Frozen Treats Framelits Dies. The little strawberry on top was cut out twice in Watermelon Wonder and Pear Pizzazz. I cut the stem off of the Pear Pizzazz strawberry and glued it to the top of the Watermelon Wonder strawberry. Last, the sentiment from Cool Treats was stamped with Chocolate Chip onto Whisper White Cardstock.

Stepped Up Version
The stepped up version is a slider card. When you pull up the ribbon, the inside of the card moves up along with the embellishment on the front. There are lots of tutorials for slider cards online. I found this YouTube video by Dawn's Stampin' Thoughts to be easy to follow. In the photo above, you can see three different pieces of the Tasty Treats DSP. I am in love with this paper!

If you love this set as much as I do, be sure to order it before the end of the month. May 31st is the last day to order from the Occasions Catalog. The Cool Treats Bundle saves you 10%.

Retired Set Sunday: Featuring Paper Pumpkin Alternatives for A Sara Thing

April's Paper Pumpkin - A Sara Thing
Welcome back to Retired Set Sunday, where I pair a retired set with something new! These cards were created from April's Paper Pumpkin kit, Stampin' Up's monthly subscription kit in the mail. I decided to do something a little different with my kit after watching a You Tube video from the adorable
Danica Ferrante where she added the butterfly to her card base. Well, I didn't care for the geometric heart shape that came with the kit, so I decided to glue the butterfly to the heart and cut it out.

I used the retired Stampin' Up! set, Sassy Salutations for some of the sentiments because I love the whimsy look of the font. These kits are great! The card bases and mats are precut and it comes with everything you need, except for a stamping block. But hey, I've used the back of my iPhone as a block before. True story!

Supply List:
  • Stamp Sets: A Sara Thing, Sassy Salutations (retired)
  • Colors & Ink: Basic Black, Daffodil Delight, Melon Mambo, Pacific Point, Tempting Turquoise, Rich Razzleberry, 2015-2017 In Color Paper Stack
  • Tools: April's (2017) Paper Pumpkin Kit, Washi Tape, Stampin' Up Watercolor Pencils, Paint Brush, Multipurpose Liquid Glue, Stampin' Dimensionals, Paper Snips
  • Big Shot: Detailed Dragonfly Thinlits Dies, Butterflies Thinlits Dies
Order online at Stampin' Up! and please choose me as your demonstrator. Paper Pumpkin subscribers have access to past kits and refills! Thanks for stopping by and please leave a happy comment!

Retired Set Sunday: Mouthwatering and a Freshly Made Sketch Challenge

FMS282
Welcome back to Retired Set Sunday - where I combine something retired with something new! I hope this inspires you to dust off your old Stampin' Up! stamps and get creative. This week I used the Freshly Made Sketch Challenge FMS282 for some inspiration. I combined the retired Popsicle Stampin' Up! stamp from the Mouthwatering set with the new Tasty Treats Designer Series Paper from the current Occasions Catalog. I inked the Popsicle with the Peekaboo Peach Stampin' Write Marker then colored the stripes onto the stamp with the Calypso Coral marker. The stick is colored with the Crumb Cake marker. I used this same technique with the sentiment. The sentiment and stitch marks are outlined with a white Scribe-ALL® All Surface Pencil which you can get at any art supply store.

Supply List:
  • Stamp Set: Mouthwatering (Retired)
  • Colors & Ink: Crumb Cake, Pool Party, Peekaboo Peach, Calypso Coral
  • Tools: Multipurpose Liquid Glue, Stampin' Trimmer, Stampin' Dimensionals, Paper Snips,
    Scribe-ALL®
  • Dimensions:  Card base is 10-1/2" x 5-1/4" so that when folded the dimensions are 5-1/4" x 5-1/4" and the card will fit in a 5-1/2" square envelope.
    Tasty Treats DSP 142770 - $13.00 (US)
You can order the Tasty Treats Designer Series Paper from me until May 31, 2017. There's also a coordinating bundle which includes the Cool Treats Stamp Set and Frozen Treats Framelits Dies. Save 10% when you order the stamp and dies in a bundle. Thanks for stopping by!

Free Color Chart Template

Only three more months until the new Stampin' Up! Annual Catalog comes out. Take some time to Spring clean your inventory. I had a color chart like this a few years ago which really helps keep my paper and inks organized. I re-created the chart here and you can download this template for free. I'll update the sidebar when the colors change. Just punch out the coordinating cardstock, scribble with your Stampin' Write Markers and stamp any image you like in the corresponding square. Just click on the image below or on the sidebar for your free template. Happy Stamping!

Retired Set Sunday: Tasty Trucks and a Sketch Challenge CCMC451

Welcome back to Retired Set Sunday, where I use a retired Stampin' Up! stamp set with current product. My layout inspiration came from the Create with Connie and Mary Sketch Challenge CCMC451. These cards feature the Tasty Trucks stamp set which retired from the 2017 Sale-A-Bration Catalog.

Sketch challenges are a really fun way to get some inspiration and put those stamps to use. For the top card I used Watermelon Wonder along with the In Color Designer Series Paper Stack 2015-2017 In Colors. The bottom card features the same DSP in Mint Macaron paired with a Pool Party base. I love this color combination. The washi tape on the top card is also retired. Unfortunately, the In Color Collection of 2015-2017 will no longer be available when the new Stampin' Up! catalog comes out June 1st. So, now is the time to order your favorites: Cucumber Crush, Delightful Dijon, Mint Macaron, Tip Top Taupe and Watermelon Wonder.

  Supply List:
  • Stamp Set: Tasty Trucks (Retired Sale-A-Bration 2017)
  • Colors & Ink: Shimmery White, Watermelon Wonder, Pool Party, Mint Macaron, Watercolor Pencils, Stampin' Write Markers in Basic Black, Mint Macaron, and Watermelon Wonder
  • Embellishments: Watermelon Wonder Washi Tape (retired), Watercolor Pencils
  • Tools: Blender Pen, Multipurpose Liquid Glue, Stampin' Trimmer, Stampin' Dimensionals, Paper Snips

We Create Blog Hop - April Step it Up

Welcome to our April Blog Hop! We are a group of Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators who love to create a simple project and then a “stepped up” version.  It’s so fun to connect with each other and share ideas and creativity.  I'm so happy you stopped by.
Simple Version
Featuring...the Hostess Set, Pun Intended from the 2016-2017 "Find Your Inspiration" Catalog. My simple card was created using only two layers. First, I stamped the lightbulb pattern onto the Whisper White card base. I rubbed the Embossing Buddy onto the 2" x 4" Night of Navy rectangle. Then I stamped the lightbulb and sentiment using Whisper White. While the ink was still wet, I embossed it with white embossing powder and heat set it with the Heat Tool. The bottom corners are rounded with the Project Life Corner punch. I tied a piece of Linen Thread as an accent around the top and bottom of the sentiment. The bulb is painted with Clear Wink of Stella to make it shimmer and added to the card base with a Stampin' Dimensional.
Stepped Up Version
The stepped up card has four layers; the Whisper White Card base, a Night of Navy mat, then again, the lightbulbs stamped on Whisper White cardstock with Night of Navy ink and last, the Night of Navy accent piece with the lightbulb and sentiment. This time I colored all of the bulbs (using the current catalog image on page 200 as my inspiration.)  I used a sponge dauber with Daffodil Delight ink to make the lights glow. The hearts are colored in with Flirty Flamingo ink and a Blender Pen. I added a small white accent dot to the upper left edge of the hearts with the White Stampin' Chalk Marker

The accent bulb was stamped onto Whisper White cardstock in Night of Navy and hand cut with paper snips. Clear Wink of Stella covers the bulb for shimmer. The heart on the bulb is covered with thin layer of the Fine-Tip Glue Pen to give it dimension. I've seen a trend lately with sentiment words cut apart, so I hand cut, "you light up my life" and attached them with Stampin' Dimensionals cut to size. It's so cute and whimsical. I sponged the words with Daffodil Delight and painted them with Clear Wink of Stella.

Retired Set Sunday: Random Acts of Kindness

Blowing Kisses Retired Stamp Set
You never know what you have, until you clean your craft room! I searched everywhere for an Easter stamp to no avail. The closest I came to an Easter stamp was this retired Stampin' Up! set, Blowing Kisses, which is actually a Valentine's Day stamp. Once a month, I play BUNCO with a group of paper crafters and scrapbookers, so we call it Crafty Bunco. March's theme is Easter/Inspirational. We bring something handmade, according to the theme and package it up for a prize when you get a Baby Bunco. I made a set of six 3" x 3" cards with envelopes. I tried to watercolor like Ilina Crouse. I used Stampin' Up! watercolor pencils which come in 13 current SU colors and an Aqua Painter. For the inspiration, I put six different quotes by Mother Teresa inside each card, which I just printed from my computer. Then I printed these instructions:

Random Acts of Kindness Cards: Give a card to a stranger for inspiration. There are 6 cards and I challenge you to give them away before Easter to: (1) a waiter or waitress (2) a barista at a coffee shop (3) a drive-thru cashier (4) a stranger at church who you feel needs inspiration (5) someone who smiles at you, and (6) someone who needs it.
Simple Packaging
I challenge you to give away six handmade cards or tags before Easter. I hope this inspired you and I'd love to see your creations as well.
SUPPLY LIST: Stamps: Blowing Kisses (retired)

  • Colors: Blushing Bride, Crumb Cake, Falling in Love Designer Series Paper (current Occasions Catalog)
  • Embellishments: Watercolor Paper, Celophane Bag 6" x 8", Very Vanilla Seam Binding Ribbon (retired)
  • Big Shot: Bigz XL Fancy Favor Die (retired)
Thanks for stopping by!

Jar of Love Meets Love Sparkles

Every month I swap handmade cards with a group of Stampin' Up! demonstrators from Utah, Idaho and Ohio. We only use current Stampin' Up! products. For my March swap, I used the Jar of Love Bundle combined with the Love Sparkles stamp set from the Occasions Catalog. We can only order out of this catalog until May 31st. However, the Jar of Love set is carrying over to the new catalog in June 2016. The sparkling font in the Love Sparkles stamp pairs perfectly with the fireflies or "lightning bugs" as we call them in Oklahoma. I used silver embossing powder on the handle, lid and stars and clear Wink of Stella over the fireflies.
