Weekend Inspiration Challenge - Photo by John and Fish

It's time for the Weekend Inspiration Challenge! Use your imagination to create a scrapbook page or card inspired by the photo. You can use the colors, the shapes, the feel of the photo, or the layout. There is no right or wrong way to use your imagination. When you are done with your creation, take a picture of it and post a link in the comments so everyone can see it. I am definitely inspired to use my Spring Song stamp set for this challenge. This photo is by John and Fish on Flickr. If you love birds, I think you will be mesmerized by their beautiful photography. Here is my sample, inspired by the photograph:

For this card I used the bird from the Spring Song stamped on shimmer white cardstock. I painted him with an aqua painter and dots of ink from the stamp pad re-inkers in brilliant blue and orange. I used pink for the branch to try and make it look like the photgraph. The ribbon is 3/8 inch taffeta in Kraft. The shimmer white cardstock is my favorite to use for watercoloring. The cardstock is shimmery all the way through and the image really pops. You can order online anytime from me at www.krisk.stampinup.net Thanks for stopping by!

C is for Christa Cat

Sale-A-Bration is coming to an end this month. This C is for Cat Stamp set was one of the last sets that I got for free with my $50 purchase. I made this card for a friend who recently lost her fur baby. This card uses a variety of products and the inspiration came from whatever was closest to my reach at the time. I used Pretty in Pink for my base and Kraft as my layer. The floral piece is one of my favorites and comes from the Sending Love Speciality DSP in the Occasions mini page 13 (available through April 30th). I coordinated the other images in chocolate chip and very vanilla. The cat image is stamped in white Craft ink. Her collar has a little rhinestone from the Eggcellent Eggs Kit on page 23 of the Occasions Mini. The little chocolate chip floral epoxy brad can be found on page 13 of the Occasions Mini. I embossed the sentiment by stamping it with chocolate chip craft ink and using clear embossing powder. Rest in piece Christa Kitty!

Chocolate Bunny Basket

I just love my Big Shot. It's the first thing I bought when I became a demonstrator. I CASE'd this almost exactly from Becky Roberts. However, for the middle section I used the Fancy Favor Bigz die. I also left the bottom edge in the top note shape instead of cutting it straight across. Recipe: CS Pretty in Pink, Chocolate Chip, Certainly Celery, Whisper White and the pink stripe piece is from the Sweet Pea Designer Series Paper Stack on p. 33 in the Occasions Mini. Stamp Set: Chocolate Bunny. The bow is made with the Pretty in Pink Taffeta Ribbon. The handle is made with Certainly Celery paper and Certainly Celery Satin Ribbon.

Little Bird House

Someone at Stamp Club said this was so cute they just didn't think they could stand it. I have to agree! However, I can't take all of the credit. I got this idea from my friend Valerie Aguirre who said she saw it somewhere but can't remember where. I modified it a tiny bit. I used the Stampin! Up! Mini Milk Carton die (117310 $32.95) with Kraft cardstock. I stamped the wood grain heart from the I {Heart} Hearts Stamp set (118571 Clear $18.95)on the inside and around the outside edges. I made the rooftop by using the scallop edge punch on the ends and using a scallop strip to ink the roof with a sponge dauber in Soft Suede. The cardstock for the roof is Real Red. The little bird and branch is the Extra Large Two-Step Bird (117192 $15.95). I made the second one featured for my hostess out of the wood sheets (116309 $9.95 page 158 IBC).

Hello Stamping Presentation

I recently got an exciting new job as a trainer for the hospital. As part of our credentialing process we had to complete a series of presentations where we were critiqued on our style in order to learn and improve as a speaker. We were asked to come up with a 4 minute "How To" presentation. I knew immeditately what I wanted to do! Stamp of course. But four minutes??? So, I demonstrated this cute Hello card. I got the idea from the little Hello Box we made at Convention 2009. I had so much fun stamping as quickly and neatly as I could, demonstrating how to stamp a handmade card. Then, for all the new friends I made this week who were so supportive in our training sessions, I made them each the little 3 x 3 card with love! These projects are created with the Hello Again stamp set along with the Retro Remix wheel, Old Olive Cardstock and Melon Mambo 1/2" polka-dot grosgrain ribbon. You can get the Hello Again set as one of your free stamp sets with a $50 purchase during Sale-A-Bration. Click on each photo for a larger view.

Weekend Inspiration Challenge - "Don't See Me" by Mandy Bryant Photography

It's time for the Weekend Inspiration Challenge! Use your imagination to create a scrapbook page or card inspired by the photo. You can use the colors, the shapes, the feel of the photo, or the layout. There is no right or wrong way to use your imagination. When you are done with your creation, take a picture of it and post a link in the comments so everyone can see it. Mandy Bryant of The Light Fantastic on Etsy graciously gave me permission to use her playful & delightfully happy photo called, "Don't See Me". You can purchase her creations on Etsy at http://www.etsy.com/shop/TheLightFantastic or become a fan on facebook at http://www.facebook.com/pages/Mandy-Bryant-Photography/108131339725
I am so inspired by this photo and I hope you are too. I created this digital scrapbook page using Stampin' Up's My Digital Studio software.

This page would be printed 12 x 12 and I would most likely make this a hybrid page (meaning part digital and part paper) with journaling tabs that pull out from behind the photos. I like to journal in my own handwriting to make it more personal. I love finding recipes and old notes with my great grandmother's handwriting on it. It is so special to me. Latest Stamp Club Projects

Here are the latest projects we made at the last Stamp Club. A new stamp club is starting March 13th if you are interested in joining. See the events at the top of this blog. The little trat box is made using the Big Shot and the Mini Milk Carton Die featured on page 23 of the Occasions Mini Catalog. It is covered with Sending Love DSP on page 13. Available through April 30th.It is stamped with Tiny Tags on page 28.

I CASE'd (Copy & Share Everything) page 5 of the SAB Catalog for the Birthday Bliss card and changed the colors a bit. I was going to try and use the bleach stamping technique on this card, but it was too runny and I wanted the cake to look crisp and fresh, not melted. So, we used white Craft ink instead.

I made the original Things I Love card at my upline Rhonda G. The Stampin' Bunny's technique class. Directions can be found here. I changed the color to Pretty in Pink instead of Chocolate Chip, but the rest is exactly the same.

Aloha!

Wow! It took me a while to get caught up after my vacation to Hawaii. I'm just back to posting on my blog. While we were on vacation, my dog got sick, but she is doing well now. I made this thank you card to everyone who took care of her while I was away. She is a sweet little wire-haired fox terrier. For this card I cut a piece of Kaleidescope DSP with the top note die. I stamped the waves from the Just Surfing in Versamark and embossed with clear embossing powder. Then I brayered over it with Tempting Turquoise. I used the Just Surfing and Man's Best Friend stamp sets. The cardstock colors are Green Galore, Taken with Teal, Tempting Turquoise, and Melon Mambo. I used the masking technique to make the little spot on Pixie's back. She is stamped with white Craft ink onto black cardstock and embossed with white embossing powder. The little flower is from the Tote-ally Tess set.
