Beach Boardwalk Magic - Cards that Move

You Can: Build a Spinning Ferris Wheel

The magic of this Beach Boardwalk card is the movement! By layering your die cuts correctly, you can create a Ferris wheel that spins smoothly.

1. Prep Your Pieces

First, you can create the structure by die-cutting three Ferris wheels:

  • One in Black: This will stay stationary as a "shadow" background.

  • Two in Grey: These will provide the detail.

  • The Modification: Take one of the grey pieces and carefully cut the round wheel away from its base. This "free" wheel is what will eventually spin. Save the bottom piece to add back on over the shadow.

2. The "Spin" Stack

To get that perfect rotation, you can layer your pieces from front to back in this specific order:

  1. A small brad (the center axle).

  2. Two star die-cuts (for decorative detail).

  3. One circle die-cut (acts as a spacer).

  4. The grey Ferris wheel (the piece you cut away earlier).

  5. Another circle die-cut (the back spacer).

3. Lock it in Place

Finally, secure the movement. Push the brad through the stack, bend the prongs flat against the back, and glue the prongs (not the wheel!) to your card base.

The spacers ensure the wheel has enough "room" to move, while the back of the brad stays still, allowing your Ferris wheel to spin freely over the black shadow base.
